Fairy Gnome Farm is a Fiber Arts Educational farm that produces local fibers in Southern Oregon. Jodie Arellano grows many of the plant dyes that she uses to create colors of nature.
She is a certified Waldorf handwork educator through the Rudolf Steiner College of Sacramento and has been an educator for the past 10 years at public and Waldorf schools, both to adults and children. Currently she home-schools her children and runs the farm.
Jodie loves to teach through poetry, puppetry and singing.
When asked about her many skills, which include: growing dyers plants, painting, music, spinning, natural dyeing fibers, cross-stitch, sewing, weaving, bookbinding, basketry and adobe construction, she says, "I have great reverence and thanks to my talented grandparents, parents and elders, who have taught me and nurtured my love and capacity for making things with my hands and expression through music."
"Teaching offers me the opportunity to help children to become self-sufficient and capable. I am deeply honored and humbled by the work I do."
